The Crossline is a handcrafted hardwood cutting board created as an exploration of geometry, movement, and natural color.

The design brings together five distinct hardwoods: Purpleheart, Cedar, Black Walnut, Hard Maple, and Sassafras. Each species contributes its own tone and grain, creating a layered composition that feels both architectural and organic.

Rich Purpleheart introduces deep violet and burgundy tones, Cedar adds warm reddish color, and Black Walnut provides dark chocolate contrast throughout the pattern. Hard Maple creates the lighter structural bands that move across the board, while slender Sassafras strips add another subtle layer of warmth and separation between the geometric sections.

The result is a board that reveals something different from every angle.

From a distance, the design feels clean and structured. Up close, individual grain patterns, natural color variation, and precision joinery reveal the craftsmanship built into every section.

Designed Like Furniture

Every element of The Crossline is created from real hardwood.

There are no printed patterns, veneers, or artificial graphics. The intersecting shapes, contrasting colors, and fine accent lines are created by individually preparing, cutting, arranging, and joining the different hardwood species into a single composition.

Even the edges become part of the design, allowing the layers of Purpleheart, Cedar, Walnut, Maple, and Sassafras to remain visible through the thickness of the board.

Natural Color, Intentional Contrast

The color palette comes entirely from the wood itself.

The deep natural color of Purpleheart sits against the darker Walnut, while Cedar introduces warmth and Hard Maple brings brightness and structure. Fine Sassafras accents provide additional visual separation without overpowering the larger pattern.

Changes in grain direction and tone create subtle variation throughout the surface, giving the board the precision of a designed object while preserving the unmistakable character of genuine hardwood.
